happy_dsignAll things considered, Daphne had liked Victorian island better than Wild West island. The clothes had been more flattering, for one. She'd preferred the scenery, too. But no one had consulted her, so she was making the best of things.
She was dressed in a dress that made her feel a little silly, a matching bonnet that did at least keep the sun off her face, and calf-high lace-up boots, sturdy and sensible. She had a book tucked under one arm and a basket with some muffins and cheese and bread and juice, in case she got hungry. She wandered the settlement for a while before finally finding a bench in the shade of one of the buildings. She tucked the basket beneath the bench, settled down comfortably, and began to read Tom Sawyer.
